Services
NSBackup
We provide a desktop/laptop disaster backup solution for the Research Community. This service is for backing up work-related data from Mac, Windows or Linux desktop or laptop computers. This system does not back up MGB “Standard” PC workstations. For a backup to complete, the computer must be connected to the internet and powered-on (not in sleep mode).
Google Cloud
MGB’s usage of Google Cloud Platform/GCP is a direct extension of MGB’s network and is thereby capable of hosting/providing almost any service that would otherwise be provided in the internal network. In most cases, research workloads are best facilitated either by the on-prem HPC service or by the Terra subscription.
Terra
Terra is ‘research computing in the cloud’ powered by GCP and provided by the Broad Institute’s Data Science Platform team.
Database
ERIS offers a variety of database services to meet your application needs. We provide the following databases for free up to 50GB in size.
FileMaker Server 17, Microsoft SQL 2012, MySQL 6, PostgreSQL 9.5.2 and Oracle 11g RAC cluster
For more information, please go to Database & Data Services
Server Host - Add more Memory RAM
If you have an existing ERIS DIPR VM Server and you would like to increase the amount of RAM. Please click on the Order button.
Server Host Clone
Clone an existing VM subscription. Please have the name of the origin VM available.
Server Host Provisioning
The baseline “server” in DIPR is a virtual guest operating system carved out of our VMWare cluster. To maximize flexibility, ERIS maintains all non-essential OS services (i.e structured and non-structured data services) outside of the ESX cluster.
The vast majority of customers should be able to fit into one of our 2 no-cost configurations for VMWare guests. Currently, OS configurations are based on Linux OS’s (CentOS or Ubuntu), although requests for Windows or other operating systems will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis:
SMALL: 64-bit CentOS 8 with 2 GB of RAM and 32 GB local disk space – a customer can have 2 of these at no cost (per fund number) or
MEDIUM: 64-bit CentOS 8 with 4 GB of RAM and 32 GB local disk space – a customer can have 1 of these at no cost (per fund number)
Please note you can have 1 4GB or 2 2GB per fund.
CUSTOM: Systems requiring different OS configurations or larger resource allocations – we will determine in the customer conversation whether more than a SMALL or MEDIUM configuration is required and create a CUSTOM VM on request.
All servers are a one-time charge for 4 years. For more information, please go to Virtual Server
Anaconda (monthly)
Anaconda is a distribution of python that provides an easy-to-use platform for data science and machine learning. It has many pre-installed packages and tools that are available for use. Installation downloads are available for Linux, Windows and MacOS. All licenses expire annually in June and prorating halfway through the license year is available.
BioRender
BioRender is a web-based application to help scientists create and share beautiful, professional scientific figures. BioRender licenses expire annually on April 30th, regardless of purchase date; there is no prorating. You will need to reorder your license each year to maintain access.
ChemDraw
ChemDraw is available for researchers to purchase from the Research Computing Core. ChemDraw is an annual cost of $102. Licenses are renewed annually on May 25, regardless of purchase date. Licenses are not prorated, if purchased later in the license year. Installation downloads are available for Windows and MacOS.
EndNote
EndNote is reference management software, used to manage bibliographies and references when writing essays and articles.
FlowJo
FlowJo is the leading analysis platform for single-cell flow cytometry analysis. Flowjo licenses expire annually in September, regardless of purchase date; there is no prorating.
GraphPad Prism
GraphPad Prism Software combines scientific graphing, comprehensive curve fitting (nonlinear regression), understandable statistics, and data organization into one package. All licenses expire annually on August 31, regardless of date of purchase; there is no prorating. Each installation is a separate charge.
JMP
JMP is available for researchers to purchase from the Research Computing Core. JMP is only available as a desktop install. Installations are available for Windows and MacOS. After installation, JMP does not need a network connection. JMP is an annual fee and licenses will auto-renew on July 31.
Matlab
MATLAB is a numerical computing environment developed by MathWorks. MATLAB allows matrix manipulations, plotting of functions and data, implementation of algorithms, the creation of user interfaces, and interfacing with programs written in other languages, including C, C++, and Fortran. The license works on both Macintosh, Linux and Windows computers.
NVivo
NVivo is a qualitative data analysis (QDA) computer software package. NVivo helps qualitative researchers to organize, analyze and find insights in unstructured or qualitative data like interviews, open-ended survey responses, journal articles, social media and web content, where deep levels of analysis on small or large volumes of data are required. NVivo licenses expire annually on February 27th, regardless of purchase date; there is no prorating.
SAS (Citrix/Server)
SAS Citrix and Server licenses are available for researchers to purchase from the Research Computing. SAS licenses are automatically renewed annually on April 1st; license cost will be prorated after September 30.
The Research Computing Core offers three options for running SAS: on Citrix, on Server, or on Desktop.SAS (Desktop)
SAS Desktop is available for researchers to purchase from the Research Computing. SAS Desktop licenses renew annually in April; license cost will be prorated after September 30..
Stata
Stata is a complete, integrated statistical software package that provides tools for analysis, data management, and graphics. The license works on both Macintosh and Windows computers.
ERISOne BriefCASE
The BriefCASE storage option is high performance storage attached to the ERISOne Cluster which supports large scale parallel processing of genomic and medical imaging data sets. BriefCASE storage is issued to Lab groups as a shared resource per Lab group or per project and can scale from 200GB to 50+ TB.
Data protection is provided by daily snapshots that retain deleted or changed files for 2-7 days depending on recent activity. Data folders under 5TB may be eligible for tape backup, on request.
MAD3 Storage
The Massive Array of Disks (MAD) service is archival solution that is cost-effective, massively scalable, tiered of storage that is centrally located within the highly secure PHS Data Center. This tier of storage should be considered for data that needs to be kept online and accessible but does not require frequent access or connection to applications that will operate on this data. MAD targets data that is written once and read seldom, where the files typically undergo little to no changes over time. The data’s utility is high enough, however, that it needs to remains on-line and accessible for an extended period of time.
Research Interactive Storage
Research Interactive Storage is a low-cost, pay as you go storage solution ideal for researchers whose work generates large data sets that then need to be analyzed by investigators. Please note which choice you are requesting.
The solution has three different choices to access the storage:
1. RFA: Network File Storage accessible from Macintosh or Windows computers
2. RFA NFS: Network File Storage accessible from a Linux Computer
3. DIPR Storage: Additional Storage for your VM
